Chocolate Marbled Cake

Chocolate Marbled Cake Recipe

Ingredients

For the Cake:
2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
2 ½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 ½ cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup milk
¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
¼ cup boiling water
For the Glaze:
1 cup confectioners’ sugar
2-3 tbsp milk
½ tsp vanilla extract

Method

Preparing the Batter:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch bundt pan or a loaf pan.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
Creating the Marble Effect:
In a small bowl, mix the cocoa powder and boiling water until smooth.
Divide the batter into two portions. Stir the cocoa mixture into one portion.
Spoon dollops of the vanilla and chocolate batters into the prepared pan, alternating the flavors.
Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the batters together to create a marbled effect.
Baking:
Bake in the preheated oven for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Adding the Glaze:
In a small bowl, whisk together the confectioners’ sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cake. Let it set before serving.
