Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk (whole, skim, or any preferred type)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or melted butter
- Optional: 1 tablespoon sugar or honey for a slightly sweet bread
Instructions:
Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. If using sugar or honey, add it at this stage.
- Add the milk and vegetable oil (or melted butter) to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined. The dough will be slightly sticky.
Cook the Bread:
- Microwave Method:
- Grease a microwave-safe mug or bowl with cooking spray or a little oil.
- Spoon the dough into the prepared mug or bowl, filling it no more than halfway to allow room for rising.
- Microwave on high for 90 seconds to 2 minutes, depending on the wattage of your microwave. Start checking at 90 seconds by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean or with a few crumbs.
- Stovetop Method:
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it with oil or cooking spray.
- Divide the dough into 4-6 portions and shape them into small rounds or flattened discs.
- Place the dough rounds in the skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
Serve:
- Allow the bread to cool for a minute before removing it from the mug, bowl, or skillet.
- Serve warm with butter, jam, honey, or your favorite toppings.
