Quick 5 Minute Bread

Quick 5-Minute Bread

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk (whole, skim, or any preferred type)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or melted butter
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon sugar or honey for a slightly sweet bread

Instructions:

Prepare the Dough:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. If using sugar or honey, add it at this stage.
  2. Add the milk and vegetable oil (or melted butter) to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined. The dough will be slightly sticky.

Cook the Bread:

  1. Microwave Method:
    • Grease a microwave-safe mug or bowl with cooking spray or a little oil.
    • Spoon the dough into the prepared mug or bowl, filling it no more than halfway to allow room for rising.
    • Microwave on high for 90 seconds to 2 minutes, depending on the wattage of your microwave. Start checking at 90 seconds by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean or with a few crumbs.
  2. Stovetop Method:
    • Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it with oil or cooking spray.
    • Divide the dough into 4-6 portions and shape them into small rounds or flattened discs.
    • Place the dough rounds in the skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.

Serve:

  1. Allow the bread to cool for a minute before removing it from the mug, bowl, or skillet.
  2. Serve warm with butter, jam, honey, or your favorite toppings.
