Ingredients:

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

Prepare the Crust:

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour and salt.
  2. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually add the ice water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough comes together. Do not overmix.
  4. Form the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  5. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled dough into a 12-inch circle. Fit the dough into a 9-inch pie pan, trimming any excess dough around the edges. Flute the edges if desired.

  1. Pour the sweet potato filling into the prepared pie crust.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until the filling is set and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
  3. If the crust begins to brown too quickly, cover the edges with foil to prevent burning.

Serve:

  1. Allow the pie to cool completely on a wire rack before slicing.
