**Ingredients:**
– 180 grams all-purpose flour (1 1/2 cups)
– 60 grams unsweetened cocoa powder (1/2 cup)
– 1 teaspoon baking powder
– 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 200 grams granulated sugar (1 cup)
– 2 large eggs, at room temperature
– 240 ml buttermilk (1 cup), at room temperature
– 120 ml vegetable oil (1/2 cup)
– 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
– 240 ml boiling water (1 cup)

**Instructions:**

1. **Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan:**
– Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans, or line them with parchment paper.

2. **Mix Dry Ingredients:**
– In a large bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk in the granulated sugar until well combined.

3. **Mix Wet Ingredients:**
– In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.

4. **Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:**
– Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.

5. **Add Boiling Water:**
– Carefully add the boiling water to the batter, stirring until smooth and well combined. The batter will be thin, but this is normal.

6. **Bake:**
– Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.

7. **Cool and Frost:**
– Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before removing them from the pans to cool completely on wire racks.

8. **Frosting (Optional):**
– Once the cakes are completely cooled, you can frost them with your favorite frosting, such as chocolate ganache or buttercream.

9. **Serve:**
– Slice and serve the delicious homemade chocolate cake!
