Perfectly Mini Doughnuts
Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
- Prepare the Dry Ingredients:
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Prepare the Wet Ingredients:
- In another bowl, mix together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Combine the Ingredients:
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix to keep the doughnuts light and fluffy.
- Heat the Oil:
- Heat oil in a pot or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Pipe the Doughnuts:
- Using a mini donut pan or a piping bag, carefully pipe small circles of batter into the hot oil.
- Fry the Doughnuts:
- Fry the mini donuts for about 1-2 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
- Drain the Doughnuts:
- Remove the mini donuts from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- Optional Topping:
- Optionally, toss the warm donuts in cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar.
- Serve:
- Enjoy your delicious homemade mini donuts!
Tips:
- Make sure the oil temperature is consistent to ensure even frying.
- Do not overcrowd the pot when frying to prevent the donuts from sticking together.
- You can add a bit of nutmeg or cinnamon to the batter for extra flavor.
- Use a small cookie cutter or a makeshift piping bag (a zip-top bag with a corner snipped off) if you don’t have a mini donut pan or piping bag.
