Delicious Fried Cabbage
Ingredients:
- 6 slices bacon, chopped
- 1 large onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large head cabbage, cored and sliced
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional: red pepper flakes for a bit of heat
Instructions:
- Cook the Bacon:
- In a large skillet or frying pan, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon pieces with a slotted spoon and set them aside on a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Leave the bacon grease in the skillet.
- Sauté the Onion and Garlic:
- Add the diced onion to the skillet with the bacon grease. Sauté over medium heat until the onion is translucent and slightly browned, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute, stirring constantly, until fragrant.
- Cook the Cabbage:
- Add the sliced cabbage to the skillet. Stir to coat the cabbage in the bacon grease and mix it with the onions and garlic.
- Cook the cabbage, stirring occasionally, until it becomes tender and slightly caramelized, about 10-15 minutes. You can cover the skillet with a lid to help the cabbage soften more quickly.
- Season and Serve:
- Season the cabbage with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using) to taste.
- Stir in the cooked bacon pieces. Continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Serve:
- Transfer the fried cabbage to a serving dish and enjoy as a delicious side dish or even a main course!
