Apple Dumplings Recipe
#### **Ingredients:**
– 2 large Granny Smith apples (or any tart apples)
– 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
– 1 cup unsalted butter
– 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
– 1 can (12 oz) lemon-lime soda (like Sprite or 7-Up)
#### **Instructions:**
1. **Preheat the Oven:**
– Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
– Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. **Prepare the Apples:**
– Peel and core the apples.
– Cut each apple into 8 slices.
3. **Wrap the Apples:**
– Open the cans of crescent roll dough and separate them into triangles.
– Place one apple slice at the wide end of each triangle.
– Roll the dough around the apple slice, starting from the wide end, and pinch the edges to seal.
– Place the rolled dumplings in the prepared baking dish.
4. **Make the Sauce:**
– In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
– Stir in the sugar and vanilla extract until the sugar is mostly dissolved (it will be slightly grainy, which is fine).
– Pour the butter and sugar mixture evenly over the apple dumplings.
5. **Add the Soda:**
– Pour the lemon-lime soda around the edges of the baking dish, avoiding pouring directly over the dumplings to maintain the crispiness of the dough.
6. **Bake:**
– Sprinkle ground cinnamon evenly over the dumplings.
– Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the dumplings are golden brown and the sauce is bubbly.
7. **Serve:**
– Serve the apple dumplings warm, spooning some of the syrupy sauce over each serving.
– They are delicious on their own or served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Enjoy your apple dumplings!
