Shrimp Dirty Rice Recipe

**Ingredients:**
– 1 lb hamburger meat
– 1 lb ground pork sausage
– 10-12 shrimp, tail off and deveined
– 4 cups cooked rice
– 2 cups broth (use chicken broth or Better Than Bouillon)
– 1.5 cups mixed onions and bell peppers, chopped
– 3 tbsp vegetable oil (divided)
– 1 tsp seafood seasoning
– 1/4 cup flour
– 1 tbsp oregano
– 3 tsp minced garlic
– 1 tsp thyme
– 1 tbsp garlic powder
– 1 tsp onion powder
– 1 tsp chili powder
– 1/2 tsp pepper (more to taste)
– 1/2 tsp salt (more to taste)
– Pinch of cayenne pepper

**Instructions:**

1. **Prepare the Shrimp**:
Season shrimp with seafood seasoning. Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side until they form a “C” shape. Remove from pan and set aside.

2. **Cook the Meat**:
In the same skillet, add 1 tbsp oil and cook the hamburger meat and sausage until they start to brown.

3. **Add Veggies and Garlic**:
Stir in the onions, bell peppers, and minced garlic. Continue to cook until the meat is fully browned.

4. **Season and Thicken**:
Add the oregano, thyme, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper. Stir in the flour and cook for a minute or two to remove the raw taste of the flour.

5. **Simmer**:
Slowly pour in the broth and let the mixture simmer for 5-7 minutes until slightly thickened.

6. **Add Rice and Shrimp**:
Stir in the cooked rice and let everything simmer together for another 5 minutes. Add the shrimp back in, mix well, and enjoy!
